Help Us Build Community Partnerships

Community volunteer guiding students during an educational program, promoting youth development and upward mobility through local learning initiatives in Utah

Organizations

We bring together businesses, nonprofits, cities, and faith groups to help communities—like the State of Utah and FranklinCovey to expand Leader in Me to 40+ schools in our focus areas.

Utah Cities

Our civic partnerships create long-term upward mobility, sustained efforts, and help strengthen existing community infrastructure.

Neighbors

People are the glue that keeps a community thriving and connected. Supported with resources, neighbors helping neighbors can be easier and more joyful.

Collaboration That Multiplies Impact

The work of building strong communities in Utah isn’t possible without the support of donors and partners. By matching resources and funds with neighbors, faith communities, and service-minded corporate partners, we can work together to make a little go a long way.

Local Ownership Is Critical

To make lasting, vital change in Utah’s most in-need neighborhoods, participation and collaboration from local nonprofits, municipalities, and businesses are essential. Change must be created from the inside out, and local leaders are best positioned to know what their neighborhoods need.

Where You Are Needed

We need donors and partners who can help support efforts with:

  • Neighborhood revitalization projects.
  • Math and literacy programs.
  • Family and youth mental health support.
  • Community and corporate days of service.
  • Community Resource Center activities and supplies.
  • Skill-based and professional volunteering.

Who Can Help?

Cities Strong Foundation exists to help connect partners. Sometimes the most unlikely pairings have the best opportunity to make a difference. If you are a business, nonprofit, church, or service organization, there are so many programs in Utah that need your help. We are focused on creating inclusive partnerships to improve neighborhoods along the Wasatch Front.

How We Strengthen Neighborhoods

We are:
• Focused on the coordination of resources
• Civic-minded, nonpartisan foundation
• A bridge between institutions and neighbors

We are not:
• A direct-service non-profit
• A political organization
• A short-term program

We focus on supporting existing nonprofits – not duplicating or replacing their efforts.

Focused On Upward Mobility

Cities Strong Foundation is working to improve the factors that drive opportunity and intergenerational success. In Utah, where you live can make a huge difference in your life expectancy, personal and professional success, and mental health outcomes. Supporting high-need neighborhoods is about more than pride and nice parks; it’s about helping people live better and longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can my organization become a partner with Cities Strong Foundation in Utah?

It’s as easy as reaching out. Contact us to share your needs, resources, or ideas.

What types of organizations does Cities Strong Foundation collaborate with?

All kinds! We work closely with Utah nonprofits, corporations, small businesses, faith communities, service organizations, cities, and more. We are looking to partner with foundations focused on collective impact and upward mobility in local Utah communities.

How do corporate social responsibility efforts connect with Cities Strong Foundation’s work in Utah?

We help corporate partners seeking meaningful community engagement find opportunities best suited to their employees, workforce skills, and resources.

How are partner and donor funds used to strengthen Utah communities?

Partner and donor funds are invested directly into neighborhood-level impact across our targeted communities—supporting the individuals at Community Resource Centers, homeowners and neighbors at Days of Service projects, leadership programming in schools, family stabilization efforts, and legal clinics for new neighbors. Cities Strong Foundation works with cities, schools, nonprofits, and volunteers to align these resources in key ZIP codes, ensuring funds strengthen existing organizations and produce measurable improvements for families and neighborhoods.

What makes Cities Strong Foundation different from other nonprofit collaborations in Utah?

We are focused on holistic, place-based integration of resources and support. It’s not just about volunteers, housing, faith collaboration, or emergency services. We weave it all together in specific neighborhoods that need it most.

How are myHometown donations managed?

myHometown is an initiative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, supported by church facilities, funding, and volunteers.

Cities Strong Foundation (CSF) is a separate, independent nonprofit. Donations to CSF are not donations to myHometown, and no funds are transferred to or subsidize the Church.

We share a unified purpose and geography, and believe in strengthening the work of volunteers—regardless of entity. CSF works alongside myHometown and many other nonprofit and community partners to fund neighborhood projects, programs, and direct support for homeowners and individual beneficiaries.

What if our city isn’t currently part of myHometown or Cities Strong Foundation?

myHometown is an initiative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Decisions about where it operates are made by the Church, typically in partnership with cities through a formal agreement.

Cities Strong Foundation is a separate, independent nonprofit. While we do not determine where myHometown expands, we can help facilitate conversations with local leaders and partners to explore opportunities.

We focus on shared geography and unified purpose—bringing together cities, nonprofits, and community partners to strengthen neighborhoods and support volunteer-driven efforts where alignment and resources exist.

The effort is community-wide and interfaith, with no proselytization, and focused on strengthening neighborhoods. We have grown from one city to seven in a short time, and expansion depends on local partnerships and available funding.
