About Cities Strong Foundation

Together We Create Stronger Cities

We are a Utah non-profit focused on community development, which is a fancy way of saying that we believe that when neighbors show up for each other, cities get stronger.

Homes become more stable. Kids become leaders. Visitors feel safe and supported. Businesses thrive.  Streets are more welcoming.

Cities Strong Foundation is a Utah-based organization focused on bringing cities, nonprofits, faith communities, businesses, schools, and residents together to strengthen neighborhoods through joyful, coordinated service.

We can do great things in Utah by starting with “Hey, Neighbor!”

01Our Mission

We love Utah and its people. We want to strengthen our cities by serving as the backbone organization to facilitate joyful community development and place-based service.

We believe that connecting neighbors with one another and the right resources can increase opportunities and build lasting community resilience. We unite communities and focus where we can make the most impact.

Service is more than charity. It is an investment in people and neighborhoods, and instead of competing for attention or resources, we multiply them.

02What We Do

We make communities stronger from the inside out by mobilizing residents, volunteers, and strategic partners with shared zip codes for local impact.

Connecting volunteers to local service opportunities. Aligning cities, nonprofits, businesses, and churches around shared goals. Supporting neighborhood community centers through myHometown.

We fund critical resources and help make sure every hour served, every dollar given, and every partnership goes further to support neighborhoods.

03Why Our Model Works

Strong cities are built locally. Cities Strong Foundation helps multiply community investments to transform volunteers and donations into sustained impact for neighborhoods.

Lasting change doesn’t happen through isolated programs. It happens when neighborhoods take ownership, service pathways are simple and welcoming, and institutions collaborate rather than compete.

We are rooted in communities along Utah’s Wasatch Front — working city by city, neighborhood by neighborhood — so impact is personal, visible, and lasting.

This is neighbors helping neighbors, not charity from a distance.

Put the “Neighbor” In Neighborhood

We bring together people and institutions who might not otherwise collaborate to work toward shared local success and support.

We Unite the Unlikely

Focus Where It Matters

Our work is place-based and data-informed. We focus on cities with the most need, using local insight to guide action.

Joyful Service

When service feels welcoming, hopeful, and meaningful, people return. Communities grow stronger, together.

Measurable Impact in Utah

Our goals and success are measured by outcomes:

  • More volunteers in participating cities
  • More cross-sector collaboration
  • More neighborhood-based support systems
  • Better access to opportunities for residents
  • Sustainable, city-level engagement

We help neighborhoods shift from scattered efforts to shared momentum.

How We Do What We Do

We are:

  • A coordination organization
  • A civic-minded, nonpartisan foundation
  • A bridge between institutions and neighbors

We are not:

  • A direct-service non-profit
  • A political organization
  • A short-term program

We exist to strengthen the ecosystem — not replace it.
