Family Stability and Housing

Helping Families in Utah

Our work supports family stability and upward mobility across Utah—funding critical needs like emergency rental assistance and connecting residents to volunteers for self-reliance and financial literacy programs.

We also prioritize legal immigration support and citizenship pathways, helping families navigate the process, access trusted legal resources, and fully participate in their communities.

By investing in underperforming neighborhoods and surrounding families with practical support, we aim to help Utah lead the nation in opportunity and outcomes.

Cities Strong Foundation is proud to partner with Good Samaritan and NoMas to support Utah families.

Serving Families in Your Neighborhood

Our coordinated approach to family stability includes partnerships with organizations like Good Samaritan Foundation to offer temporary housing assistance to individuals and families while they acquire English skills, find employment, and move towards permanent residency. We also welcome new neighbors through our collaboration with NOMAS legal clinics, which provide free immigration assistance from licensed attorneys, including help with citizenship, work permits, and family reunification.

How We Serve Families in Utah

We believe that thriving neighborhoods are built when we bring together city leaders, schools, churches, businesses, and foundations within specific zip codes to drive neighborhood impact. We work to match funds to multiply community investment that helps new neighbors acclimate and thrive in Utah.

Service brings people together across differences, and it can build trust and create pathways that unlock upward mobility in our neighborhoods.

Stable Families Build Stronger Utah Communities

When families have stable housing, basic supplies, and neighborly support, they are better able to adjust to life in Utah, secure employment, and navigate the immigration process. Disruption is reduced for families, and immigrant and refugee children are able to attend school consistently, which increases their chances for success in the community at large.

Our Approach to Helping Families in Utah

As a family assistance nonprofit, Cities Strong Foundation partners with the Good Samaritan Foundation and NOMAS to provide legal immigration assistance, emergency housing, and compassionate case management support to help families successfully navigate the immigration process in Utah and become productive members of the community.

Support Families in Utah

There are two important ways to help families feel welcome in these neighborhoods.

Volunteer: We need neighbors who can help host important skills-based classes at community centers. We’ll create the opportunities and bring the supplies; we just need you! Find volunteer opportunities here.

Donate: We work hard to advocate for Utah neighborhoods and seek out grants and funding opportunities, but we also need your support! Your donation provides materials critical to creating stable homes. Donate today!
